CBU School of Sciences

Science and Math Degrees at CBU
an overview

graduation 2004

The School of Sciences houses four departments:

Biology,
Chemistry,
Mathematics and Computer Science
Physics and Natural Science.

We offer the following degrees:

B.S. in Biology that can be used for many purposes including immediate employment in the environmental, food, and health areas and for preparation for all of the various health professions including medical school, dental school, pharmacy school, etc., and for preparation for advanced study and research. We also have a paradigm in biology with a concentration in environmental science.

B.S. in Biomedical Science is designed specifically to prepare students for medical, dental and veterinary schools.

B.S. in Chemistry that can be used for many purposes including immediate employment in industry labs, preparation for all of the health professions and for preparation for advanced study and research. We also have paradigms in chemistry specifically for pre-medicine, for pre-pharmacy, and for pre-forensics.

B.S. in Computer Science that can be used to gain immediate employment or for advanced study. The computer science paradigm contains options in bioinformatics, forensics, engineering and informaton systems.

B.A. in Mathematics and a B.S. in Mathematics that can be used for immediate employment or for preparation for advanced study and research in many different fields. We also have paradigms in math specifically designed for students interested in bioinformatics and in forensics.

B.S. in Physics that provides good preparation for advanced study and research in many areas of science and technology, and a B.S. in Engineering Physics that integrates the physics with engineering.

B.S. in Natural Science that is basically a "design your own degree" program that can be used for preparation for the various health professions , teacher licensure in math and/or science, or many of the multidiscipinary fields such as public health or wildlife biologist/game warden .

We also have a paradigm for a dual degree in Computer Science and Mathematics .

Any of the above degrees can be used to pursue teaching licensure in the discipline or multidiscipinary fields such as biochemistry , forensics , or neuroscience .

The School of Sciences also offers minors in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics that can be used to support other majors at CBU, both within the School of Sciences and within other schools at CBU.

To further investigate opportunities in science and mathematics, you may want to see the different science career opportunities at science careers and more specifically at careers in biology .

If you have any questions about other multi-discipline science areas or any general questions in any of the above areas, please feel free to e-mail your questions  Send e-mail now to jholmes@cbu.edu or contact the person at the bottom of the page devoted to the particular area of your interest.
