Periodic Table Information
WEB
Elements is a database of the elements of the periodic table, including
the most recently discovered elements.
Elementistory
provides the history of selected elements from the periodic table.
This link will allow you to drill in the placement of elements in the
Periodic Table by providing you with a blank table to fill in the chemical
symbols.
The Visual
Elements of the Periodic Table is a neat visualization of the elements with
an amazing amount of data on each element. It is most effective using Flash.
Reviews of Concepts
Making Matter is a Web site that covers another important topic in inorganic chemistry—the structure of inorganic solids. This site is a subset of the larger Inorganic Crystal Structure Database (ICSD) for the WWW , and presents a clear, concise description of how extended three-dimensional networks of atoms form many important inorganic materials.
Transition metal and coordination compounds usually form a large part of any course on inorganic chemistry. John Nash’s Web site at Purdue Univesity is a very comprehensive offering on the subject. The free Chemscape Chime plugin is required; Netscape 4.08/4.7x/4.8x works best. Netscape 6 and 7 do not work!
The field of organometallic chemistry is well covered by Rob Toreki’s Organometallic HyperTextBook.
