Stone Reminders
Chris Bryan
When mortals meet their destiny at last
And their limited time on earth is shown
They implore to extend their name in stone.
By stone trees that our last one's mortal past-
Treading stone forests, we often walk fast,
Seeing all the names, it becomes re-Known-
That soon our short lives, by us, will have flown,
Stone reminders that all die will be cast.
Remembering those gone we once so loved
Makes our stone reminders of what must be.
Matters it not if decreed from Above
The cycle of life will circle through thee.
For not even the stone trees always last,
Nature takes Her's as all things become Past.
