Welcome to Memphis! Welcome to CBU! When I arrived at CBU two years ago, I heard these words many times. The southern hospitality at CBU and in Memphis is captivating. It is now my turn to welcome you to CBU and to Memphis.

These are exciting times at CBU. Many things were put in motion last year that will transform CBU over the next five to ten years. We completed a strategic plan that answered the important questions about who we are, where we are going, and how we are going to get there. We have launched five new degree programs, including a Master of Arts in Executive Leadership, a Master of Arts in Catholic Studies, A Master of Science in Engineering Management (also our first online program), a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences. We also integrated the enrollment management functions for all our graduate and evening programs into the new Graduate and Professional Studies Office. The focus in the coming year will continue to be on growing enrollments by growing these new programs and launching other initiatives. A continuing top priority will be the preparation for the full implementation of our new General Education Program in the fall of 2007.

None of these changes, however, will affect CBU's strong tradition of quality teaching and learning. Our faculty work hard to ensure we offer quality academic programs that pay individual attention to student needs. We are proud of our history of producing competent graduates who have high ethical standards. All of our current priorities are focused on enhancing this tradition. I am proud of CBU's faculty and I am excited about what we have begun.

Sincerely,

Dr. Tony Aretz
