Oelke Gets The Ball In Season Opener
By Joey Perry

Steven Oelke Memphis, TN--The time is now. Opening Day 2002 will take place at Buc Field tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. as the Christian Brothers University Buccaneers will host #12 Cumberland University. Coach Goodwin announced today that Pre-Season All-Conference pitcher Steven Oelke will get the start on the mound for the Bucs.

CBU, picked to finish 6th in the Gulf South Conference Western Division, looks to open some eyes early and often facing NAIA powerhouse Cumberland University from Lebonan, TN. Cumberland, on the other hand, has been chosen as the favorite to repeat as champions of the Mid-South Conference this season.

After compiling a 19-8 record at Buc Field last season, the Bucs look for continued success at home in the 2002 season. Cumberland enters the game with an 1-3 record after visiting Alabama-Huntsville this past weekend.

Pre-game batting practice begins at 12:00, with the first pitch at 2:00 p.m.
