Black Defeats Red, 16-2

Memphis, TN--The Black team outscored the Red team 16-2 to take a two games to none lead in the Buccaneer World Series. The game featured excellent pitching and solid defense from the Black team, including five innings of no-hit baseball from starter Jesse Boyd. They pounded out 11 hits and capitalized on walks and errors to plate 16 runs.

Seniors Joey Perry, Zac Clements, and starting pitcher Jesse Boyd lead the Black team to victory in Game 2. Perry went 3-for-3 at the plate with 3 runs scored. Clements added 3 RBIs, including his first homerun of the series. Boyd pitched 5 strong innings allowing no hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. Jonathan Samikkannu contributed 3 hits and transfer Latarius Harris had 3 RBIs in the victory.

The Red team's performance was highlighted by sophomore catcher Ian Strelsin's 2-run homer in the 7th. Freshman pitcher Jonathan Marshall suffered the loss.
