Black Edges Red, 4-3
Memphis, TN--The Black team held off a last-inning rally by the Red team in Game 3 of the Buccaneer World Series Monday at Buc Field. The game featured good pitching and timely hitting from both teams, as the Black team was able to come out on top.
Senior Zac Clements gave the Black team an early lead with his second homerun of the series in the first inning. The Red team answered with two runs in the bottom half of the first on three hits, including a double by Senior Brad Adams. Black answered with runs in the second, third, and fifth inning to take a 4-2 lead into the last inning. Red rallied for a run in the bottom half as Black held on to take a 3-0 lead in the series.
Senior Steven Oelke started for the Red team before being replaced in the second by Brad Adams. Oelke allowed 1 run on 1 hit and 1 strikeout in the first. Adams contributed 4 innings of work allowing 4 hits and 3 runs while striking out 7. Junior Brad Powers started and allowed 3 hits and 1 earned run in 3 innings of work for the Black team. Jason Whitehead pitched the fifth to earn his first save of the series.
