The squad will be deeper and more experienced this year given the fact that twelve seniors return, including two players that missed last season due to medical red-shirts.

The pitching staff boasts six members who have been conference starters at some point in their Buccaneer career and the infield remains intact.  Competition will be heated for playing time in the outfield and backup roles at all positions have yet to be decided.

A veteran of the Memphis Baseball Scene since 1976, Phil Goodwin returned to Christian Brothers University as its Head Baseball Coach in August of 1999. Goodwin replaced long time Head Coach Joe Nadicksbernd, whom he assisted from 1988-1990.

Coach Goodwin has served as a high school coach at Kingsbury, Whitehaven, Christian Brothers, and Cordova High Schools, amasssing a 72% winning percentage. From 1990 to 1996, Coach Goodwin worked for the Memphis Chicks Professional Baseball Club. At the time, the Chicks were the AA affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
