Bucs Shooting Hibernates Against Bears

MEMPHIS, TN— Plagued by poor shooting the entire game, the Christian Brothers University men’s basketball team fell to the Bears from Central Arkansas 75-67 tonight inside De La Salle Gymnasium.

The loss drops the Bucs to 6-15 overall, 3-8 in Gulf South Conference action, while the win improves the Bears overall record to 9-11, 5-6 in GSC play.

Matt Francis (New Orleans, LA) would lead all Buccaneer scorers with 18 points and 5 assists. Adam Heitzman (Memphis, TN) would contribute 12 points for the Bucs and thieve a game-high 4 steals. Brandon Corbin (Nashville, TN) would record a game-high 9 rebounds to go along with his 9 points in the losing effort. As a team, the Bucs would force 26 Bears’ turnovers.

Anthony Hart would lead the visitors with 18 points and 4 blocks. Luke Rowan, 16 points, and Karelius Paul, 14 points, would also score in double digits for the Bears. As a team, the Bears would out block the Bucs 7-0.

CBU would shoot 34.5 percent on 12-of-35 shooting in the first half. The touch would grow colder in the second half, as the Buccaneers would manage to connect on only 8-of-29 attempts for a 27.6 shooting percentage. The Bears, however, shot 56.5 percent for the game. In the second half, the visitors would shoot an astounding 60 percent on 12-of-20 shooting.

The Buccaneers will travel to Arkadelphia, AR to face-off against GSC opponent and nationally ranked Henderson State University. Game time is scheduled for 8 PM.
