Shooting Woes Return for CBU Basketball
By Rori A. Eddie

MEMPHIS, TN— The math is easy. If your team shoots only 33.3 percent from the floor and the other team shoots 58.2 percent from the floor, you’re not going to win the basketball game.

That equation proved true tonight inside De LaSalle Gymnasium, as the Christian Brothers University men’s basketball team was solidly defeated, 63-96, by the visiting Harding University.

The Bucs struggled to find rim the entire night, connecting on only 22-of-66 attempts from the floor. Meanwhile, Harding combined a blistering 59.4 first half shooting percentage with a just as stout 56.5 second half total to claim the lop-sided victory.

The woes stretched far into three-point land for the Bucs, as CBU only made one-of-its-12 attempts in the first half before finishing with a dismal 17.2 shooting percentage from three-point territory.

On the other side of the ball, it seemed the Bison could not miss from downtown as Harding shot a perfect 6-of-6 from three-point range in the first half and would only miss two tries in the second half.

Adam Heitzman would be the only CBU player in double figures tonight, as the sophomore forward collected 12 points in his 22 minutes of action.

Harding would place six players in double figures, including Chris Campbell’s game-high 22 points. Jason Malek finished with 17 points on a 3-of-3 night from beyond the arc. Chad Ware added 15 points off the bench, while Regimantas Butvydas offered 12 points in his 22 minutes of reserve action.

The Bison backcourt of Darren McCrillis and Aaron Farley scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.

CBU will return to the hardwood, Tuesday, February 19th, as the Bucs travel to Cleveland, MS, to tangle with Delta State University. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 PM.
