Arkansas Not Friendly to CBU
Conway, AR--For the second time this season, the Christian Brothers University men’s basketball team traveled to the state of Arkansas for a Gulf South Conference match-up.
For the second time this season, the Christian Brothers University men’s basketball fell to a "Natural State" school, as the University of Central Arkansas Bears recorded the 81-65 victory over the Bucs tonight inside Farris Center.
A balanced scoring attack paired with a decisive advantage on the rebounding glass proved to be the winning combination for the Bears, as UCA climbs to 4-7 overall on the year with a 1-2 mark in the GSC standings.
Meanwhile, CBU slips to 4-8 for the season while matching a 1-2 mark in league action.
The Bears controlled the boards, 43-29, while also out-shooting the Buccaneers 56-40 for the contest.
Central Arkansas’ Luke Rowan recorded a double-double performance, as the 6-7 forward collected 18 points off the bench and gobbled up 10 caroms. Teammate DeWayne Hart shot 7-of-10 from the floor to finish the contest with 15 points. The guard tandem of Mario Thomas and Marcus Keaton added 14 and 10 points, respectively. Karelius Paul chipped in 12 points for the Bears.
Joshua Moses came off the bench to pace the Bucs’ offense with a team-high 14 points in just 12 minutes, while teammates Paul Walker and Clint Dowdle both matched 10 points. Matt Francis would grab a team-high seven rebounds from his guard position.
Christian Brothers University will face stiff competition, Saturday, January 12th, as the third-ranked (South Regional Poll) 9-2 Henderson State Reddies visit De La Salle Gymnasium at 4 PM.
