Arkansas Continues to Sting Bucs
Searcy, AR--The Christian Brothers University men’s basketball team does not like the road, and certainly does not like the roads of Arkansas. The Buccaneers dropped their Gulf South Conference match-up with Harding University, 85-75, tonight inside Rhodes Fieldhouse. The loss moves to Christian Brothers to winless 0-4 mark in the Natural State.
CBU is currently nursing its own four-game losing streak and slips to 4-10 on the regular season with a 1-5 mark in conference play. The Bisons climb to 10-5 on the year and 2-3 in league action.
Plagued by 19 turnovers, the Buccaneers allowed the Bison to convert those costly miscues into 34 points. Harding also held the shooting advantage, as the Bison connected at 53.7 clip compared to the CBU 43.1 shooting percentage from the field.
Harding University featured the inside-outside one-two punch of Jason Malek and Aaron Farley, as the teammates both matched 21 points on the night. Malek dominated on the inside with an 8-of-15 shooting performance while Farley iced 8-of-10 attempts from the charity stripe to push the Bisons past CBU. Chris Campbell added 13 points, while Datron Wilson chipped in 10 points.
For the Bucs, Brandon Corbin offered a season-high 22 points off the bench, while Jake Bazeley had a 7-of-10 night from the field to finish with 17 points. The freshman guard also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Adam Heitzman collected 14 points, while Joshua Moses was the last of the Bucs to find double-figures with 12 points.
Christian Brothers University will next play a non-conference road game with the University of West Alabama, January 23rd, at 7 p.m.
