Memphis--Christian Brothers University head softball coach, Donna Crone announced today St. Benedict standout Megan Sharp has signed a national letter of intent to play softball with the Lady Buccaneers starting the 2001-2002 season.

Sharp, "Best of the Preps Player of the Year" last season, led her Lady Eagles to a fourth place finish in the Division 2 state tournament in 2000 while her team also spent several weeks in the national rankings. In 2000, the right-hander held a 21-5 overall record with 17 shutouts.

As of May 9, 2001, Megan has had six no-hitters this season including two perfect games. She currently has a 19-3 record with an ERA of 0.32. Not only has Megan been a presence on the mound for the Lady Eagles, but also has been able to help her cause by swinging the sticks maintaining a .332 batting average. Earlier in the season, Sharp was honored as the Commercial Appeal Female Athlete of the Week for the week of April 3rd. During the week, Sharp recorded five wins at the Waverly Classic, including a no-hitter against the host team and a no-hitter against Class AAA power Hendersonville.

"Megan will be a big addition to our young team," said Coach Crone. "She will be the stepping stone to take CBU softball to the next level."
