In-Sik Hwang
In-Sik Hwang enters his second season at the helm of the Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneers Volleyball Squad after leading the team to a 12-17 mark in his first season. Under his direction, four Lady Bucs earned Second Team All-GSC honors, the most in school history, while all eight letterwinners were named to the GSC Academic Honor Roll. Hwang arrived at CBU in 2002 with over 10 years coaching experience on the collegiate, club and high school levels under his belt. In 2001, he was the head coach at LaVergne High School and guided the team to a district and regional championship in only his third season. He also earned District 9 Coach of the Year Awards in 2000 and 2001. Hwang graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education in 1998 from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. While at MTSU, Hwang served as an assistant volleyball coach from 1993-1996 and was an instructor at the school from 1995-1996. After leaving MTSU, he coached at Franklin High School in 1998 and was promptly named the District 11-L Coach of the Year. Hwang is involved in the community and has founded several Volleyball camps and clubs. In 1992 he founded Camp Volleyballistic training and coaching 250 youth each summer. Two years later, he offered a Camp Volleyballistic Coaches Clinic for high school coaches. The camp helped train and develop over 20 high school coached, seven district champions and three state tournament participants. In 1995, Hwang began the Spike Volleyball Club further enhancing the sport of volleyball in the state. His team won the Southern Region District Championship from 1995-1998. In 1997, his club team won the Southern Regional Championship and finished 9th in a 100 team National Qualifying Tournament. Hwang was also an instructor in the Music City Volleyball Club in 1994 and the Nashville Volleyball Club from 1991-1993. Hwang is a member of USA Volleyball and the American Volleyball Coaches Association. He is licensed by the USA Ocaching Accreditation Program, certified both Level I and II. He has also been Leader level certified in the American Coaching Effectiveness Program.
