By Rori Eddie

Miami Shores, FL--The Christian Brothers University women’s basketball team returned to action this afternoon as part of the Barry University Tournament. The Lady Bucs suffered only their second loss of the season, as St. Anslem College (Manchester, NH) took the 66-52 victory to improve to 5-4 on the year. CBU falls to 7-2 for the 2001-2002 campaign.

The Lady Bucs proved rusty after a 13-day lay-off, shooting only 32.2% from the floor for the entire contest. The CBU shooting woes stretched outside three-point land, as well, as the Lady Bucs could only connect on 4-of-19 attempts for the game.

Meanwhile, the Lady Hawks tickled the twines at a blistering 53.3% for the first half, and finished the contest with an even 50.0% shooting performance to pair with a 69.2 free throw percentage.

St. Anslem would carry a 36-19 advantage into the locker room at half and would end this afternoon’s match-up out-rebounding the Lady Bucs, 46-26.

Starting center, Sara Petrowicz, would convert 7-of her-9 attempts from the floor to pace the Lady Hawks attack with a game-high 14 points and 11 caroms. Teammate Caitlin O’Loughlin would add 13 points, while Jen Carson also found double-figures, scoring 10 from off the bench.

The Lady Bucs would have only two players reach the double-figure barrier in the scoring column, as Ashley Smith and Crystal Howard both collected 10 points.

CBU will play host school, Barry University, tomorrow inside the Health & Sports Center at 2 p.m.
