Lady Bucs Battle Past Harding In OT
Searcy, AR--The Christian Brothers University women’s basketball picked up its first Gulf South Conference road victory, as the Lady Buccaneers, stretched to an overtime contest with Harding University, escaped with the 67-66 victory tonight inside Rhodes Fieldhouse.
With the one-point win, CBU improves to 9-7 on the year and 2-4 in the GSC standings. Meanwhile, the Lady Bisons slide to an 8-7 overall mark with a 2-3 league record.
Powered by starting junior guard Sarah Condra’s game-high 31-points, CBU outshot the Lady Bisons 50 to 16.7 percent in the overtime period to collect the one-point victory. Condra bottomed seven three-pointers on an 11-of-27 shooting outing.
Mary Buford came off the bench to collect 11-points, marking the only other Lady Buc to find double-figures for the game.
Despite holding a 48-34 advantage on the rebounding glass, Harding connected on only 1-of-6 attempts in overtime action. The Lady Bisons put five players into double figures, including Kendra Bell’s team-high 14 points. Saretha Jackson added 13 points, while teammate Heather Lawrence chipped in with 12 points. Mindy Napier and Julie Wright both matched 10 points on the night.
Christian Brothers University will not return to hardwood until, January 26th, when the Lady Bucs will play host to traditional Gulf South Conference powerhouse, Delta State University. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
