Notre Dame "Too Tall" An Order For CBU
By Rori Eddie

South Bend, IN--With four players towering over 6 feet in Notre Dame’s starting line-up, the Christian Brothers University women’s basketball team quickly realized a dream-come-true upset bid of the defending 2000 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Champions would be "too tall" an order for the Lady Buccaneers to fill on this night.

The Fighting Irish netted 54 points in the paint compared to the out-matched Lady Buc’s eight. Notre Dame would also convert 30 points off of 22 CBU turnovers.

Alicia Ratay collected her second straight 20-point outing for the Irish, as the 6’0" junior guard drained 4-of-5 attempts from behind the three-point line to help guide Notre Dame to a 46.2 shooting percentage from beyond the arc for the game.

The 2001-2002 Pre-Season Big East Rookie of the Year, Jacqueline Batteast, missed just two shots (6-of-8) from the floor to finish with 17 points, while teammate Katy Flecky added 13 points off the bench.

After the shell-shock of playing inside the storied Joyce Center wore off, Christian Brothers would return in the second half to offer a much improved 40.7 shooting percentage from the floor and an even better 50 percent from three-point land. The Lady Bucs only managed to convert 3-of-28 shots in the first half of play.

For the second consecutive exhibition outing, Sarah Condra paced the CBU offensive effort with a team-high 12 points, while freshman Rubenia Finley added eight points on the night. Amonica Wiggins battled for a team-high seven caroms to match with her six points.

Christian Brothers University falls to 0-2 in preseason action, while Notre Dame extends its exhibition-winning streak to 11.

The Lady Bucs will make their regular season debut inside De LaSalle Gymnasium, Saturday, November 17th, against the visiting Lady Panthers of Kentucky Wesleyan at 2 PM.
