By Rori Eddie

St. Louis, MO--The Christian Brothers University women’s basketball team improved to 2-0 in it’s early 2001-2002 campaign, as the Lady Bucs picked up their first road victory behind a mark of 59-46 over the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

For the second consecutive outing, Sarah Condra (Millington, TN) led the Lady Buccaneer attack with a 7-of-11 shooting performance from three-point land to end with a game-high 21 points. The junior guard fell one carom short of collecting a double-double, but her nine rebounds ranked second on the team.

Christian Brothers carried a 32-19 lead in the locker room at the half, as the Lady Bucs shot 41.2 percent from behind the arc, compared to the UM-St. Louis' 0-of-9 first-half effort from long range. The Lady Bucs also managed to out-rebound their opponent, 48-53, as Amonica Wiggins (Duncan, OK) gobbled up a game-high 12 boards to pair with her six points.

Rubenia Finley (Rome, GA) would be the only other the Lady Buc to find double-digits in the scoring column, as the freshman guard recorded a 17-point, eight-rebound and five-steal effort in only her second collegiate game.

Mariela Miles and Lynette Wellen combined for 21 points to lead the River Women offense. UM-St. Louis slips to 1-1 on the year.

The Lady Bucs will look to stay unbeaten, as CBU plays host to Springhill College, Friday, November 23rd at 7:30 PM inside De LaSalle Gymnasium.
