Memphis--The Christian Brothers University women’s basketball team, playing for the second time in as many days, turned up the heat in the second half to defeat the Univerisity of Mary-Hardin Baylor by thirty points inside De LaSalle Gymnasium tonight.

CBU would be led by Amonica Wiggins’ (Duncan, OK) 19 points, draining 8-of-10 attempts for her first double digit performance of the year. Crystal Howard (Memphis, TN) and Mary Buford (London, AR)) would also enjoy their inaugural double-digit performances this year scoring 16 points and 12 points respectively. Howard also led the Lady Bucs in rebounding with 9 caroms, barely missing a double-double.

Freshmen Rubenia Finley (Rome, GA) would add 12 points and grab 8 steals. Junior guard Sarah Condra (Millington, TN) would score all nine of her points in the second half to help lead the Bucs to the lopsided win.

UMHB would manage to drain five of 12 shots for a 41.7 percentage from behind the arc, but would be hindered by a 38.3 percentage connecting on only 18 out of 47 shots for the game. The Lady Crusaders would score just 6 baskets in the second half while shooting a dismal 26.1 percentage for the half.

UMHB would be led by Audrey Mitchell’s 14 points in 29 minutes of action. Jennifer Gilchriest added 11 points while Julie Robertson contributed 10 points for the Lady Crusaders. UMHB shot a 78.9 percentage from the free throw line making 15 shots on 19 attempts.

CBU would play tough defensively all night outscoring Mary-Hardin Baylor 39-to-6 on points off turnovers. Just as dominating, the Lady Bucs would enjoy a 54-18 advantage over the Lady Crusaders in points in the paint.

CBU, leading by seven points at halftime, allowed only 23 second half points on 3 assists en route to the 86-56 win while forcing 15 turnovers. With the win, the Lady Bucs remain unbeaten at 4-0, while the Lady Crusaders drop to an even 2-2 on the year.

The Lady Bucs will return to the hardwood Monday, November 26th, at 5:30 p.m against LeMoyne-Owen College.
