Phil Goodwin
enters his sixth campaign as the Head Baseball Coach of the
Buccaneers.
A veteran of the Memphis Baseball Scene since 1976, Goodwin
returned to Christian Brothers University as its Head Baseball
Coach in August of 1999. Coach Goodwin replaced long time Head
Coach and Current Director of Athletics Joe Nadicksbernd, whom
he assisted from 1988-1990.
Goodwin has served as a high school coach at Kingsbury, Whitehaven,
Christian Brothers, and Cordova High Schools, amassing a 72%
winning percentage. Goodwin’s teams won Memphis City
and District Championships on two occasions and has sent several
players on to the college level. Goodwin began the high school
program at Cordova High School in 1997 and with Sophomores
only, took his second squad to a third place finish in the
traditionally tough District 15 AAA. From 1990-1996, Coach
Goodwin served in several capacities for the Memphis Chicks
Professional Baseball Club. At the time, the Chicks were the
AA affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
A 1976 graduate of The University of Tennessee at Martin,
Coach Goodwin and wife Debbie have two sons, Casey (10) and
Jeff (8).

Tom Densford,
Jr.

Tom Densford joins the CBU staff this season as the Bucs
pitching coach. With over 11 years of coaching experience
already under his belt, Densford will have a challenge in
his first season with the Bucs molding a staff that could
include two to three freshman starters.
Densford, a Millington High School graduate, played college
baseball briefly at Shelby State. He was an assistant coach
at Munford High School in 1994-95, and served as an assistant
at Shelby State from 1994-99. He was the head coach of the
Memphis Sox Stan Musial summer team from 1995-99 and has served
as an instructor at Dulins Sports Academy since 1999.
Densford is married to his wife Janet and he has two step
children, John David and Julianna.

Kevin
Loeffler

Kevin Loeffler returns to CBU for his second season as a
Graduate Assistant Coach. He will primarily work with the
fielders. Loeffler was a four-year performer for the Bucs,
playing outfield from 1999 until his graduation in 2002. He
had a .313 batting average his junior season and played in
24 games his senior campaign, stealing two bases. Loeffler
was an All-District and All-Metro selection his senior year
at Bishop Byrne High School, batting .400 with 21 RBIs and
19 stolen bases. He was also an All-Region selection in football.
Loeffler is single and lives in Memphis.
