Lopes Named To Academic All-District Team

- Christian Brothers University junior designated hitter
Brian DeJean and junior pitcher Chad Lopes have been named
to the first and second teams of the College Sports Information
Directors of America Academic All-District team.
The team, which consists of
players from colleges (Division II or lower) in the states
of Tennessee, Ohio, Kentucky and Alabama requires players
to have at least a cumulative 3.20 grade point average, as
well as being a starter or key reserve. They must also be
at least a sophomore and have played at the institution for
one or more years.
DeJean carries a 3.92 GPA in
Mechanical Engineering and is one of 11 players on the first-team.
He is joined by Kyle Olson and Ryan Cox of Alabama-Huntsville
as representatives from the Gulf South Conference.
The senior from New Orleans finished
the season with a .310 batting average and was third on the
team in home runs with two and RBIs with 37. He slugged .430
and had a .408 on base percentage.
Lopes, a junior eligibility wise,
but a senior academically, had a 3.91 GPA in Business Administration
at CBU and emerged as one of the better arms for the Bucs
this season. He finished the season with a 4-4 record and
a 5.49 ERA. He struck out 33 batters.
