Memphis, TN – The Christian Brothers University
Buccaneer baseball team split a double-header today with Southern
Arkansas on Saturday, winning game one, 7-6 but falling in
game two, 6-1.
CBU (21-29, 3-20 GSC) had won its fifth in a row before dropping
game two.
SAU (32-23, 14-9 GSC) clinched a birth in the Gulf South
Tournament with the win. Centerfielder Aharon Eggleston had
three home runs on the day.
SAU scored two runs in the top of the first inning of game
two, but the Bucs scored one in the second and four in the
third to take a 5-2 lead. Brian
DeJean had a two RBI double, while both Blake
Christian and Charlie
Soukup had RBI singles in the third.
SAU scored another two runs in the fifth, but CBU answered
back with two in the sixth when Shane
Hogan had an RBI double and DeJean had an RBI single.
John Daush threw
eight innings and got his fourth win of the season. Steven
Thomas threw the ninth, earning his fourth save of the
year, tying a CBU single-season record.
Both teams scored in the first inning of game two, but a
three-run homer from Eggleston proved to be the difference.
DeJean went 3-6 in the double-header scoring two runs and
driving in three. Mark

Hoover both had four hits with Foster scoring twice and
Hoover driving in one. Hogan was 3-7 with two runs and RBIs.
Ryne Dahlke
went 2-3 in game two.
Both teams will face-off again tomorrow, May 1 with a single,
nine-inning game at 1 p.m.
