Bucs Lose Finale With Southern
Arkansas, 16-4

Memphis, TN – The Christian Brothers University
Buccaneer baseball team lost in the finale of their series
with Southern Arkansas today, 16-4.
CBU (21-30, 3-21 GSC) played in front of a near capacity
crowd at Buc field for senior day.
SAU (33-23, 15-9 GSC) earns the third seed in the Gulf South
Conference Tournament to be played next weekend at USA Stadium
in Millington, TN.
Southern scored five runs over the first two innings, but
CBU answered back with one in the second and two in the third
to cut the lead to 5-3.
Mark Foster
singled home Blake
Christian for the first run in the second inning. Wes
Hoover then homered over the left field fence, scoring
John Raymond Hehn
in the third. Christian drove in Hoover in the fifth on a
single to center.
Hoover finished the day with two hits, two runs scored and
two RBIs. Christian went 3-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Foster had two hits and an RBI, while Shane
Hogan, Hehn and Brian
DeJean had a hit each.
The Bucs finish the season 21-30. They came on strong late
winning five games in a row before the second game of the
Southern Arkansas series. Hoover tied the school record with
17 doubles in one season and Foster finished with 16, second
all-time. Foster also moved up to 8th on the single-season
hit list with 70, one in front of Zac Clements in 2001. The
team finished with 104 doubles, second most all time and the
most since 1998 and their 470 hits is ninth all-time.
