Coach Goodwin Announces Two
Signings
Memphis, TN – Christian Brothers
University head baseball coach Phil Goodwin has announced
the signing of David Delugach and Matt Wilder to national
letters of intent to attend CBU beginning in the fall of
2005.
Delugach is a 5-10 left handed pitcher from Memphis University
School. He played for coach Mark MacMillan at MUS where he
holds the school record for most appearances. This season,
Delugach is 4-3 with a 1.94 ERA, one save and 48 strikeouts
in 43 and a third innings.
Wilder is a 6-3 catcher from Seattle, Wa. where he played
at O'dea High School. Wilder also played for Olympia Pepsi,
an elite 19-under wooden bat team that went 53-13 last summer.
He batted .508 with four home runs, 57 RBIs and 37 doubles
starting 50 games behind the plate.
"We are very excited about the commitment from David (Delugach),"
said head coach Phil Goodwin. "We have added to our program
a
student-athlete that should excel not only on the field,
but in the classroom as well. He comes from an outstanding
program
at MUS that continues to prosper under the leadership of
coach MacMillan."
"Since we return all but two position starters, we were
able to be very selective in our recruiting efforts and
Matt (Wilder) is a perfect fit for us. He has size and great
defensive skills behind the plate and has the potential to
provide
some power numbers with his bat."
Delugach and Wilder join Daniel Gebert who signed last week
with the Bucs.
