Picked To Finish Second In Gulf South Pre-Season Poll
Birmingham, AL. - The Christian Brothers
University men's soccer team has been picked to finish second
in the Pre-Season Gulf South Conference Poll as voted on
by the coaches of the GSC.
West Florida, the defending GSC Champion, received five
first-place votes, two second and one third for 60 points.
CBU received two first, two second, one third, two fourth
and one fifth place votes for 50 total points. Central Arkansas,
Montevallo, Lincoln Memorial, Harding, Alabama-Huntsville,
Ouachita Baptist
and Delta State round out the poll.
The Bucs missed the GSC Tournament last season for the first
time since 1997. They last won the GSC Title in 2000 as both
CBU men's and women's teams captured GSC Gold.

Ross McLynn were named by the coaches to the pre-season All-GSC
Team.
Ilari became the fourth Buccaneer in a row to be named GSC
Player of the Year, joining Ian Ford in 2002, Barry Gibney
in 2001 and Mark McKeever in 2000. The Buenos Aries, Argentina
native scored 14 goals and added
six assists
for
34 points on the season. He ranked
18th and 19th nationally in points per game and goals per
game, respectively.
Vogel, a Collierville native out of Houston High School,
was a first-team All-GSC selection last season scoring five
goals
and adding
one assist
for 11 points. McLynn, a native of Sligo, Ireland, returns
to the lineup after sitting
out
last
season
with
a hamstring
injury.
He
was a
pre-season
All-GSC pick last season and was second-team All-GSC
in 2002.
The Bucs will open the season with an exhibition match against
the University of Memphis August 24 at 7 p.m. at Signaigo
Field. They open the regular season on August 28 at Truman
State and the first home regular season match will be September
10 against Barry University at 7 p.m.
