Ilari Named Gulf South Conference Men's Soccer Co-Player of the Year

Birmingham, Ala. - Sophomore forward Mariano Ilari finished fourth in the conference with 34 points and fourth in goals with 14 and today was named the GSC Men's Soccer Co-Player of the Year by the league office sharing the award with Central Arkansas' Danny George.

Ilari finished the season with the team-lead in goals and points, as well as shots and shots on goal. He finished 19th in the nation in points per game and 20th in goals per contest.

Joining Ilari on the GSC First-Team from CBU was junior midfielder Michael Vogel and senior defender Mark Franklin. Senior midfielder Jimmy Drain and Junior forward Alan Whittington were named to the Conference's Second-Team. Franklin earns his third-straight All-GSC honor after being named Second-Team in 2001 and First-Team last season.

West Florida's Keith Savage and Bill Elliott were named the Conference Freshman and Coach of the year, respectively. Elliott guided his team to a GSC Championship and earned his second Coach of the Year award as the Argonauts finished the season ranked 23rd nationally.

CBU and West Florida each had three members on the first team Central Arkansas had seven total members on both teams followed by CBU's five.
