Bucs Split Weekend Matches At Northern Kentucky

- The Christian Brothers University Buccaneer soccer team won one and lost one this weekend defeating Ashland in double overtime, 2-1, but losing to Northern Kentucky, 1-0 in the weekend finale.

CBU (1-2) got a goal in the 103rd minute from sophomore Matt Bogan on an assist from senior Alan Whittington to defeat Ashland in double-overtime of its first match at Northern Kentucky.

After allowing an own goal in the game's 26th minute putting Ashland up 1-0, the Bucs tied the match in the 87th minute on a Mariano Ilari goal from Chris Marwood. The Bucs won the game in double overtime.

The Bucs faced off against the host Northern Kentucky in their second match of the weekend and a goal from NKU's Andy Bacon with just 39 seconds left on the clock, lifted the Norse over the Bucs, 1-0.

NKU (3-0) out shot the Bucs 12-9 in the game and shots on goal were tied at two. Bogan and freshman Ryan Peel led the Bucs with two shots apiece.

CBU now comes home to face its toughest stretch of the year and in recent memory as they play host to No. 15 ranked Barry University on Friday, September 10 at 7 p.m. then host the defending national champion Lynn University at 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 12.
