Scott Groninger was named head women’s basketball coach
at Christian Brothers University on May 21, 2004.
Groninger comes to CBU from Chowan College in Murfreesboro,
NC where he led the women’s team to 18 wins and the
college’s first conference championship. The season
also resulted in Groninger receiving Coach of the Year honors.
Prior to Chowan College, Groninger served as an assistant
women’s basketball coach at the University of Kentucky
and Chicago State University. He also coached the men’s
basketball team at Chattanooga State Technical Community College
from 1995-1999 directing that program to its first-ever national
ranking.
Groninger holds a B.S. in business administration from William
Jewell College and a Masters degree in health sciences from
Georgia Southern University.
He has a wife, Kelly, and three childeren: Megan (15), Kristen
(12) and Mary-Kate (9).

Jordie Soso comes to CBU after finishing up her playing career
at the University of Memphis.
Soso played two seasons for the Lady Tigers after transferring
from Okaloosa Walton Community College. She finished up her
stint with Memphis helping the Lady Tigers to a 21-10 record
and a trip to the Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
She averaged 6.4 points per game and pulled down 4.0 rebounds
per contest. In her first season with Memphis, she was the
top newcomer ranking fourth on the squad in scoring with an
average of 6.8 points per game. She became a regular starter
near the beginning of the Conference USA season hitting 75.9
percent of her shots from the line and was second on the team
in rebounding with an average of 4.2 boards per game. She
forced 40 steals and led the squad in blocked shots with 20.
Soso spent one year at Grayson County College in Denison,
Texas, before transferring to Oklaloosa Walton Community College
in Niceville, Fla. At GCC, she helped the team to a third-place
regional finish in 2000 and was named an all-conference honorable
mention pick. Soso then played under coach Nick Morken at
OWCC as a sophomore, leading her squad to a 26-4 record and
a second-place finish in the state of Florida. She averaged
11 points and 6.6 rebounds a game, and was named as a first-team
all-Panhandle Conference honoree, being selected to state
all-tournament team.
A native of Melbourne, Australia, Soso graduated from Memphis
with a degree in Sports Management and is pursuing a Masters
Degree in Education from CBU.
