From time to time this season, various members of the Lady Buc Basketball team will be stopping in and dropping a thought or two to let their fans have a bit more insight into their respective seasons. Coach Scott Groninger and Jordie Soso will also contribute to this feature so check back weekly to see what's going on in Lady Buccaneer Basketball!

Pre-Season Recap: This week's entry comes from Jazmine Borrella...

Junior transfer Jazmine Borella offers up the first edition to the player journal for the Lady Bucs. Jazmine arrived at CBU last year, but sat out with a redshirt season. Jazmine and the rest of the Lady Bucs have been going through their pre-season workouts which consists of conditioning, individual workouts and pick-up games. Below is her account of just what goes into the pre-season workout routine.

Here we are, the school year has started again, and we're just a few months away from our first game. The beginning of the new school year always means conditioning and coach G's "Superman" contest can't be far away.

The Superman events include: a bench press, bicep curls, tricep extensions, leg press, leg extensions, shoulder press, tricep dips, quick feet step ups, sit ups, and finishes with a 2 mile run. Each player is awarded points with the lower the score the better. This season the overall first place winner was Kristen Kirkland. Second place went to Michelle Steele and third was Carley Wright. Despite some weak stomachs at times (not naming any names), the competition was a success.

Currently our preseason workout consists of a weight lifting program three times a week, speed and agility work (we just love the ladder drills), individual sessions, and an open gym session.

We've welcomed five new freshman to the team this year. Kat Butler is a point guard from Nashville. Erin Nigh is a guard from Indiana, Katie Quinton and Crystal Shelton are both solid forwards that reign from Tennessee. Jessica Plunkett is a guard from Memphis. They've all got their individual personalities, but it's too early to find out just who will be the joker, who'll be the serious one and so on. We'll get back to you on that. .........to be continued.
