Groninger Signs Nashville Point Guard

Memphis, TN – Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer Basketball Head Coach Scott Groninger has announced the signing of Kathryn (Kat) Butler to a National Letter of Intent to attend CBU beginning in fall 2005.

Butler is a 5-6 point guard from Brentwood High School in Nashville, Tennessee. Originally from Santa Barbara, California, Kat transferred to Nashville her senior year.

Butler was an All-Region selection this past year and was a member of the Beech High School All-Tournament Team. She was on the All-Tournament team during the Regional Tournament, as well.

Butler is a standout in the classroom being named to the Academic Honor Roll for four years. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and has volunteered with the Boys and Girls Clubs, as well as working with the Life Network.

Groninger thinks Butler will be a great addition to the program.

"She is very smart and a crafty player," he said. "She has great court vision and will be a good fit both on the court and in the classroom."

Butler joins Erin Nigh and Katie Quinton whom have already signed with the Lady Bucs.
