Lady Bucs Fall To Southern Arkansas,
82-78 In Double-Overtime Thriller

Memphis, TN – The Christian
Brothers University Lady Buccaneer basketball team took the
game to double-overtime, but fell 82-78 to Southern Arkansas
on Senior Day.
CBU (13-13, 4-12 GSC) was down five at the half, 33-28. The
lead was as high as 13 points for SAU with just under five
minutes left, before the Lady Bucs went on a 13-5 run to end
the half.
SAU (17-10, 8-8 GSC) shot 47 percent from the field in the
half led by 10 points and six rebounds from Kim Davis.
The Lady Bucs tied the game at 40, seven minutes into the
second half. They took a lead at 49-48 with 6:30 left on a
layup from Jackie Moore.
Both teams traded the lead for the next two minutes before
Southern took a five point lead on two free throws from Davis.
CBU went on a 6-1 run to close the game capped off by a layup
from Ponecia Anderson
with just under a minute remaining. Neither team could take
hold of the game in the first overtime period as it was tied
three times.
Southern took a six point lead with just over a minute remaining
in the second overtime, before two three-pointers from Carley
Wright made the score 78-76, SAU. Two late free-throws
from Davis sealed the victory, though for the Lady Riders.
Moore led the Lady Bucs with 20 points and six rebounds.
Ashley Smith had
16 points, while Wright and Anderson scored 14 and 13 points,
respectively. The Lady Bucs shot 47 percent from the three-point
line including 5-10 in the overtime periods.
Davis led all scorers with 24 points and Sharonda Davis scored
22 for the Lady Riders.
The Lady Bucs end their season at 13-13 and 4-12 in the Gulf
South Conference.
