Memphis, TN – Christian Brothers
University Lady Buccaneer Basketball Head Coach Scott Groninger
has announced the signing of Crystal Shelton and Jessica
Plunkett to national letters of intent to attend CBU beginning
in the fall of 2005.
Shelton is a 6-0 forward from Hume Fogg in Nashville, Tennessee
where she was a four-year starter and a three-year captain
for the Lady Blue Knights.
Shelton was a two-time All-District selection and was an
All-Region selection this past season. She helped lead Fogg
to two District Championships averaging 13.5 points and nine
rebounds, while shooting 72 percent from the free throw line.
She scored 1,102 career points and was also an All-District
selection on the volleyball court.
Plunkett is a 5-8 guard from St. Benedict High School in
Memphis. She averaged 20 points, 10 rebounds, three steals
and three assists her senior year at SBA.
A four-time member of Who's Who Among American High School
Athletes, she was the basketball MVP her junior and senior
seasons leading the Eagles to the state tournament this past
year. Plunkett also lettered in track and field.
"We're very pleased to add a player like Jessica (Plunkett)
to the mix," Groninger said. She is an athletic slasher who
scored a lot in high school and can really pass the ball
well. Crystal (Shelton) is a very athletic forward will provide
our
team with solid defense and great hustle. She has the ability
to score both inside and out."
Plunkett and Shelton join Katie Quinton, Erin Nigh and Kathryn
Butler to round out this year's Lady Bucs recruiting
class.
