Buccaneer basketball senior's Jake
Bazeley and Clint
Dowdle
have been named to the Gulf South Conference Winter All-Academic
Team.
To be nominated, student-athletes must have earned
a 3.20 grade point average or higher and were starters or
key
contributors
to their respective teams. Once nominated, the conference's
Sports Information Directors and Faculty Athletic Representatives
vote on the five person list.
CBU was the only team to have two players on the team. Alabama-Huntsville
senior Thiago Carvalho, Harding's Matt Hall and West Florida's
Josh Sullivan join Bazeley and Dowdle on the team.
Bazeley was named to the GSC Second-Team this year after
ranking eighth in in the GSC in assists, tenth in free-throw
percentage and was third on the Bucs in scoring with 13.2
points per
game. Dowdle was first in the GSC in assists to turnover
ratio for the third straight season and was fourth on the
Bucs in scoring with 9.6 points per game.
Bazeley and Dowdle were joined by Tal
Yatsiv and Kevin
Weybright on the GSC Academic Honor
Roll. Student-athletes must have a 3.0 GPA to make the
Honor Roll. Kristen

Smith represented the Lady Bucs on
the Honor Roll.
Weybright was the GSC's Freshman of the Year
this season. Smith and Kirkland finished second and third
on the Lady Bucs in scoring with 9.4 and 7.5 points per game,
respectively.
