Names Kieron Heblich Head Women's Soccer Coach
Memphis, TN – Christian Brothers
University director of athletics Joe Nadicksbernd has named
Buccaneer soccer assistant coach Kieron Heblich as the new
head women's soccer coach at CBU, effective June 1.
Heblich served as an assistant coach for the Buccaneers
this past season helping direct them to a 9-6-3 record
and a trip to the Gulf South Conference Tournament. He served
as an assistant for both the Bucs and Lady Bucs in 2003
when
Lady Bucs won their fourth-straight GSC Title and a trip
to the finals of the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament.
A native of Scarborough, England, Heblich spent two years
as a player at Meridian Community College in Mississippi
where he was an NJCAA All-American, a member of the National
Championship All-Tournament team and an All-South Region
selection. He then transferred to Northeastern State University
in Talequah, Oklahoma where he was a member of the All-South
Central Region Team, as well as an All-Lone Star Conference
performer. Heblich graduated from Northeastern in 2000 with
a degree in health and human performance.
Heblich spent one year as an assistant coach with both the
men's and women's programs at Northeastern before coming
to CBU in 2003. He completed his masters degree in education
from CBU this May.
Nadicksbernd believes Heblich's appointment keeps the program
moving in the direction necessary to continue the championship
success that has been tradition at CBU.
"We had more
than 50 qualified applicants apply for this position," Nadicksbernd
said. "Kieron brings in a wealth of experience and most
important, he is familiar with the program and the players.
We look forward to having him guide the program for years
to come."
Heblich replaces Seamus Loftus, who is leaving the university
May 31st to pursue business interests.
