Fletcher Named Pre-Season All-GSC
And Lady Bucs Picked To Finish Second
Birmingham, AL – Christian Brothers
University women's soccer senior midfielder Stacy-Jo
Fletcher has been named to the pre-season All-Gulf South Conference
Team and the Lady Buccaneers were tabbed to finish second
in the league by the coaches of the GSC.
West Florida received six first-place and three second-place
votes giving them 78 total points, just four ahead of the
Lady Bucs. CBU earned four first-place, three second place
and two third-place votes. Harding, Alabama-Huntsville, Montevallo,
Central Arkansas, Lincoln Memorial, North Alabama, Ouachita
Baptist and Delta State round out the pre-season coaches'
poll. Delta State will be competing in its first season in
women's soccer.
The Lady Bucs have won the last four GSC Championships.
Fletcher, a first-team All-GSC and All-South selection last
season, was the lone CBU representative on the team. She
scored 17 goals and had 18 assists a year ago. West Florida
had
five members on the team followed by Harding with three and
Alabama-Huntsville with two.
The Conference also announced a change in location for it's
post-season tournament as the event will move to Pensacola,
FL this year with the Pensacola Sports Authority and the
University of West Florida to serve as the hosts. Other changes
include a new format in which first-round games will be played
on November 5th with a rest day on the 6th and championships
on the 7th.
The Lady Bucs begin the regular season on September 3 at
Northern Kentucky. The first home contest for CBU will be
September 10 at 5 p.m. against Lynn University.
