Soccer Teams To Travel To Oxford, MS For GSC Tournament

Memphis, TN – The Christian Brothers University Men's and Women's soccer teams will stay close to home when they travel to the University of Mississippi for the 2004 Gulf South Conference Soccer Tournament to be held on Nov. 5 and 7.

Originally scheduled to take place at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, the tournament changed locations after severe damage to the Pensacola area following Hurricane Ivan caused the cancellation of the entire men's and women's soccer seasons at the school.

Oxford will serve as the fourth home of the GSC Tournament. Pensacola was the original home, hosting it from 1996 and 97. The tournament moved to Birmingham, AL in 1998 and stayed until 2000. Huntsville, AL hosted the tournament the past three years.

"We are delighted to be here," said GSC Commissioner Nate Salant. "Ole Miss has a terrific facility and welcomed us with open arms, helping us connect with everything from hotels to potential corporate and local sponsors."

The Lady Bucs, the tournament's No. 3 or 4 seed, will play either at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 5 against the No. 2 seed Harding, or at 1 p.m. the same day against the No. 1 seed Lincoln Memorial. The Bucs, the No. 3 seed, will play at 4 p.m. on the 5th against No. 2 seed Central Arkansas.

The Bucs have one more game scheduled before the tournament, playing host to Rhodes on Wednesday, November 3 at 7 p.m. The Lady Bucs are off until the first day of the tournament.
