Donna Crone enters her sixth season as head coach at Christian Brothers University. She graduated from CBU with a B.S. in business in 1983. Crone played two seasons of basketball and two seasons of tennis earning a Most Valuable Player Award in tennis her senior year.

The CBU softball program enters its 11th year, but under Crones’ leadership, the Lady Bucs have reached several milestones and added to some record books.

On March 15, 2000, CBU set and still owns the NCAA Div. II record for triples in one game (7).

The 2001 season brought the program its first post-season honors with Megan Pilkington (Elgin, IL) being named the GSC Freshman of the Year. Led by the strong pitching of Megan Sharp (SBA, Memphis), the Lady Bucs posted their best record of 20-21.

In 2005, Crone will surpass more than 250 games as head coach. Her experience in softball includes 17 years of coaching women's softball (Sherry's Hallmark) in the Memphis Park Commission, winning 12 league championships, two runner-up titles in the city championships and two Memphis City Championships. Crone also served as athletic director for St. Michael Church and School for four years.

Crone is also Senior Women's Administrator and the NCAA Compliance Officer for CBU. She holds a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Memphis in 1988.

She lives in Cordova with husband Chris (CBU, '76) and children Kristen and Justin .

 

Megan Pilkington

Megan Pilkington returns to CBU as a graduate assistant coach. A four-year starter for CBU Pilkington was the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year in 2000 and was a first-team selection this past season.

She holds the CBU career record for hits (151) and had owned the record for home runs before current Lady Buc Jennifer Longo broke the record this season.

Pilkington earned a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Management in 2005 and is completing an MBA at CBU.
