Shores And Dunn Power Lady Bucs
To 4-1 Win Over North Alabama
Box Score
Decatur, AL – The Christian
Brothers University Lady Buccaneer softball team scored four
runs in the second inning en route to a 4-1 win over North
Alabama tonight in the opener at the Gulf South Conference
Crossover Tournament.
CBU (11-20, 7-12 GSC) got a stellar pitching performance
from Angela Dunn,
as the senior threw a complete-game allowing just one earned
run.
UNA (28-12, 11-2 GSC) defeated Delta State in extra innings
earlier in the night, but lost for just the second time in
conference this season.
Lauren Hearn started
off the second-inning rally, by singling to right field. After
two outs, Netia Shores
clubbed a deep home run to left field. Jenny
Bernard and Paula
Cerrito both singled to left field, before Hannah
Shackelford singled to left scoring both runners when
the UNA left fielder let the ball go under her glove.
Dunn made the four runs hold up, going the distance for her
first win of the year and her second complete game of her
career. Bernard and Shores had two hits each, while Cerrito,
Shackelford, Hearn and Melissa
Eilers had one hit.
CBU will be back in action tomorrow when they take on No.
1 ranked West Florida at 11 a.m.
