Lady Bucs Drop Two In Second
Day Of GSC Crossover

Decatur, AL – The Christian
Brothers University Lady Buccaneer softball team lost to both
West Florida and West Alabama today in day two of the Gulf
South Conference Crossover Tournament.
CBU (11-22, 7-14 GSC) lost game one today by the score of
7-2 to No. 1 ranked West Florida. A late rally ended short,
and the Lady Bucs lost to West Alabama, 3-1 in game two.
UWF (42-3, 13-1 GSC) scored once in the first inning, before
giving up two runs to the Lady Bucs in the bottom half of
the inning.
CBU scored its first run when Paula
Cerrito came around on a Jennifer
Longo single. Hannah
Shackelford later scored on a passed ball. West Florida
scored six more unanswered runs. Angela
Dunn started and went three and a third innings. Kathryn
Bomar threw three and two thirds innings of relief.
UWA (12-28, 1-14 GSC) score two runs in the second inning
and one in the fifth, while Lady Tiger pitcher Casey Cockrum
took a perfect game into the seventh inning.
The Lady Bucs broke up the perfect game when Jenny Bernard
singled to start the inning. Sammy
Maness grounded out, scoring Cerrito for CBU's lone run.
Megan Sharp pitched
seven innings, striking out six and allowing just three earned
runs.
CBU will be back in action tomorrow, April 16 facing No.
11 ranked Alabama-Huntsville at 1 p.m. and Lincoln Memorial
at 7 p.m.
