Box Score

Decatur, AL – The Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer softball team continued its solid play as they defeated No. 11 ranked Alabama-Huntsville, 4-1 today in day three of the Gulf South Conference Crossover Tournament.

CBU (12-22, 8-14 GSC) scored twice in the first and twice in the fifth and Kathryn Bomar threw the Lady Bucs' third complete-game of the tournament.

UAH (43-12, 9-7 GSC) was held scoreless until the Lady Chargers scored once in the bottom of the seventh.

Jenny Bernard led off the game with a single. Paula Cerrito sacrificed her over to second. Jennifer Longo singled to center field scoring Bernard and Samantha Maness doubled down the left field line scoring Longo.

The Lady Bucs had back-to-back bunt singles from Hannah Shackelford and Longo to lead off the fifth inning. Both runners moved up on a ground out and Maness came through again on her birthday, singling to center field, scoring both runners.

UAH got one run in the seventh, but Bomar kept the Chargers' bats silent for most of the day, allowing just five hits in seven innings. She struck out one and allowed one earned run. Maness went 2-4 with three RBIs on the day. Longo and Bomar each had two hits, with Longo driving in a run and scoring twice.

The Lady Bucs will be back in action tonight, as they take on Lincoln Memorial at 7 p.m.
