Lady Bucs Drop Final Two Games Of GSC Crossover

Decatur, AL –
The Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer softball team lost to both Valdosta State and West Georgia today in the final day of the Gulf South Conference Crossover Tournament.

CBU (12-25, 8-17 GSC) scored late in both games, but couldn't put away either team.

VSU (21-33, 11-9 GSC) scored four early runs and one late insurance run to defeat the Lady Bucs and move into fourth place in the GSC East.

Netia Shores continued her hot hitting with a two-RBI single in the fifth inning against Valdosta, scoring both Angela Dunn and Melissa Eilers. Shores also singled home Eilers in the seventh.


UWG (23-25, 7-12 GSC) went up 2-0 after three and a half before the Lady Bucs took a 3-2 lead on a home run from Samantha Maness. The Lady Braves, however, answered back in the fifth and sixth innings with five runs to take the game.

Shores went 4-6 with three RBIs in the two games today. Maness went 2-6 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored. Eilers went 2-3 in game one and scored twice.

The Lady Bucs will have two games on Wednesday, April 20 at North Alabama beginning at 2p.m.
