Box Score

Magnolia, AR –
The Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer softball team dropped the finale of a three game series today to Southern Arkansas, 4-3 in nine innings.

CBU (10-17, 6-9 GSC) gave up two runs in the bottom of the fifth, going down 2-0. The Lady Bucs, however, scored three in the top of the sixth to take a 3-2 lead.

Tia Shores lined a single off of the third baseman's glove to start the inning. She stole second and Jenny Bernard walked behind her. Shores moved over to third on a passed ball and Bernard moved up to second on a bunt single from Paula Cerrito. Hannah Shackelford took the first pitch she saw and lined it to left center scoring both runners and tying the game. Cerrito scored the third run on a fielders choice.

The Lady Riders tied the game in the seventh on an RBI single from Cassie Blackwood. Blackwood ended the game in the bottom of the ninth, when she doubled home Lauren Frazier. Blackwood also pitched four innings of hitless relief.

Shackelford had one hit and drove in two. Bernard, Cerrito and Shores all scored once. Megan Sharp pitched all eight and two thirds innings allowing just four earned runs and struck out four.
