Game One Box Score | Game Two Box Score

Memphis, TN
- The Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer softball team split the final games of the weekend series with Ouachita Baptist today, winning game one 4-1, but losing the second, 5-4. They took the series from the Lady Tigers 2-1.

CBU (8-13, 4-5 GSC) scored once in the fourth inning of game one on a single from Kathryn Bomar scoring Jennifer Longo when the catcher dropped the relay throw. OBU tied the game in the top of the sixth, leaving the Lady Bucs to win in their last at bat.

Melissa Eilers led off the bottom of the seventh with a single to center. Angela Dunn followed that up with a single to right putting runners on first and second with no outs. A pitching change brought in Amy Brettingen for the Lady Tigers to face Netia Shores. Shores went down 0-2 after fouling off the first two pitches. She worked the count to 3-2 and hit the next pitch over the scoreboard in left field for her first home run of her career and a 4-1 win for CBU.

Bomar threw a complete-game, allowing just one earned run and striking out three while walking none. She improved to 6-3 on the season.

OBU (21-11, 2-4 GSC) scored three runs in the second inning to take a quick 3-0 lead in game two. The Lady Tigers scored again in the third to make it 4-0 before the Lady Bucs scored twice in the bottom of the third. Paula Cerrito lined a triple to right center scoring Shores, and Hannah Schackelford grounded to second scoring Cerrito.

CBU scored twice more in the fifth. Shores doubled with one out and advanced to third on an error by the right fielder. Jenny Bernard singled home Shores, but moved to third on a two-base error by the centerfielder. Cerrito singled to left field scoring Bernard to tie the game at four.

OBU's Zara Kamaruddin doubled down the left field line scoring Ashley Rader for the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth. The Lady Bucs threatened in the bottom of the seventh and had two on with one out, but a line-drive, double-play ended the game.

Bernard and Shackelford each had three hits and an RBI with Bernard scoring once. Cerrito had two hits with two RBIs, while Samantha Maness had three hits. Shores went 2-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored including a walk-off, three-run home run in game one.

The Lady Bucs will head to Central Arkansas on Thursday, March 24 and Friday March 25 to play a three-game series with the Sugar Bears.
