Shackelford Delivers Extra-Inning
RBI In 3-2 Win At Central Arkansas

Conway, AR - The Christian Brothers University Lady
Buccaneer softball team have won each of their conference
victories in their final at-bat and tonight was no different
as the Lady Bucs defeated Central Arkansas 3-2 in nine innings.
CBU (9-13, 5-5 GSC) was scheduled to play two games tonight,
but impending weather forced the two teams to move the second
game to Friday as part of a double-header.
UCA (10-12, 2-5 GSC) scored one run in the first inning
to take a quick 1-0 lead.
The Lady Bucs took the lead in the third inning, scoring
two runs. Netia Shores started the inning reaching on an
error. Paula Cerrito singled behind her and Hannah
Shackelford drove in Shores with a single. Jennifer
Longo then sacrificed
the runners over, but UCA pitcher Darcy Kavalir threw the
ball away allowing Cerrito to score.
UCA tied the game up in the fifth inning and neither team
would score until the ninth.
Shores started the inning with an infield single. She stole
second and moved to third when Jenny
Bernard grounded
to second. Shackelford then lined a single to left field
scoring Shores for the go-ahead run.
Kathryn Bomar pitched all nine innings allowing just two
earned runs for her seventh win of the season. Shackelford
went 2-5 with two RBIs while Cerrito went 3-4 with a run
scored. Samantha Maness had two hits.
Both teams will be back in action tomorrow, Friday March
25 with a double-header beginning at 11 a.m.
