In-Sik Hwang enters his third season as the coach of the
Lady Buccaneers, after leading the team to an 18-18 mark
last season. Last year’s squad was the youngest in
the conference and gave Hwang his most successful season
at CBU. Under his direction, freshman blocker Laura Washington
was named the GSC West Freshman of the Year. Washington and
sophomore hitter Nan Kimbrell were named second-team All-GSC.
Eight of the nine letterwinners were named to the GSC Academic
Honor Roll; the team posted the highest overall cumulative
GPA of any sport at CBU (3.395).
Hwang arrived at CBU in 2002 with more than 10 years coaching experience on the
collegiate, club and high school levels. In 2001, he was the head coach at LaVergne
High School and guided the team to a district and regional championship in his
third season. He also earned District 9 Coach of the Year Awards in 2000 and
2001.
Hwang graduated with a B.S. in Physical Education in 1998 from Middle Tennessee
State University. He served as an assistant volleyball coach (1993-1996) and
as an instructor at MTSU (1995-1996). Hwang coached at Franklin High School in
1998 and was named the District 11-L Coach of the Year.
Hwang has established several volleyball camps and clubs, including Camp Volleyballistic
in 1992 that focuses on training and development for 250 youngsters every summer.
The camp includes a clinic for coaches. The camps have helped produce leaders
for teams that have gone on to regional championships and state tournaments.
Hwang’s Spike Volleyball Club, started in 1995, won the Southern Region
District Championship from 1995 to 1998. In 1997, the Club finished 9th in a
100-team National Qualifying tournament. Hwang was also an instructor with the
Music City Volleyball Club in Nashville (1994) and the Nashville Volleyball Club
(1991-1993).
Hwang is a member of USA Volleyball and the American Volleyball Coaches Association
and is licensed by the USA Coaching Accreditation Program, certified both Level
I and II. He has also been Leader level certified in the American Coaching Effectiveness
Program.

Breanne Boyd

Breanne Boyd returns for her second season as an assistant coach
with the Lady Bucs.
Boyd was a four-year starter at CBU and graduated in 2004 with
a degree in business. She is currently enrolled in the MBA program
at the school.
Boyd was a GSC West Second-Team selection in 2002 after averaging
3.22 kills per game and 2.3 digs per game. A team-captain her senior
year, she helped the squad to an 18-18 season averaging 2.48 digs
per game and finishing third on the team with .73 blocks per game.
A career .262 hitter she finished 2.74 kills per game and 2.70
digs per game.
Boyd is a native of Santa Barbara, California.
