Washington Leads Lady Bucs Past
Texas A&M Commerce In Five Games, 3-2
Searcy, Ar. — Sophomore blocker Laura
Washington had 21 kills, 12 digs and hit .349 for the
match and the Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer
volleyball
team defeated Texas A&M Commerce in its final match of the
Harding Invitational today, three games to two.
Both teams split the first four games by the scores of 30-27,
21-30, 30-18 and 25-30, but CBU (1-2) won the decisive game
five by the score of 15-9. Commerce moved to 0-3 on the season.
The Lady Bucs had their third-straight match with a sub
.200 hitting percentage, but rose up when it counted and
hit .529 in game five.
Junior hitter Nan
Kimbrell had her second consecutive double-double
with a 19 kill, 20 dig performance. Junior blocker Hattie
Schnacke was one of three Lady Bucs with a double-double
scoring 12 kills and 17 digs. Sophomore libero Krista
Gyarmati and senior hitter Carly
Matsen had 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
Sophomore setter Lauren
Amundson had 46 assists.
The Lady Bucs will travel on Friday, September
3 and Saturday, September 4 to Winter Park, FL to compete
in the Rollins College Fall Bash Invitational. They play
Montevallo on September 3 at noon and Rollins at 6 p.m.
the same day. They then play West Georgia at 11 a.m. on September
4 and Ashland at 3 p.m.
