Congratulations to the 310 CBU students named to the Fall 2005
Dean's List. Selection to the list requires a grade point average
of no lower than 3.4 for the term with the completion of at least 12

AN INVITATION TO CBU FACULTY & STAFF
Brother Vincent Malham, FSC, President, cordially
invites faculty and staff to a convocation and campus address on Thursday,
January 26, at 12:45 p.m. in the CBU Theatre. Brother Vincent would
like everyone to attend and is looking forward to greeting those members
of the CBU family whom he has not yet had the opportunity to meet.
There will be time for questions following his remarks and a brief
informal reception will be held after the presentation.

23, is Fifties Day: Get together in Alfonso Dining Hall for Coke floats and a movie
at 7:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, January 24, is Sixties Day: Get out the tie-dyes and
dress up like a person from the '60s.
• Wednesday, January 25, is Seventies and Eighties
Day: Disco Dance-off
and Karaoke Night in Alfonso Dining Hall, starting at 7:00 p.m.
• Friday, January 27, is Spirit Day: Wear your CBU red and support
the Bucs!
HOMECOMING DAY: SATURDAY, JANUARY 28
• The annual Up 'til Dawn Homecoming 5K will be run at
on 9:00 a.m. in the Central Lot with registration beginning at 7:30
a.m. Proceeds from the event go to St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital. Register online at www.cbu.edu/studentlife/stjude or call

• A Pre-Game Chili Cook-off will take place on the East
Balcony of Canale Arena, noon-2:00 p.m. Sample some home-cooked chili, have a
hot dog, and get in the Buc spirit! Great family event with children's
activities. Cook-off teams can represent alumni, students, and faculty/staff.

• Game time in Canale Arena: CBU Lady Buccaneers vs. Southern
Arkansas at 2:00 p.m.; CBU Buccaneers vs. Southern Arkansas at 4:00 p.m. Admission
is $5 for adults and $3 for students and children. Halftime and between-game
activities will include a half-court shot contest, awarding
of letter jackets to CBU student-athletes, recognition
of CBU All-American Stephen Hill, and presentation
of the Homecoming Court.
• Homecoming Dance: Buses will leave the Central Lot at 9:00 p.m. — You
must ride the bus to attend!
KUDOS
• A new book by Dr. Dan Brandon (Information Technology
Management) has been released this month. Project Management
for Modern Information Systems can be found at Amazon.com (search books under "dan brandon")
or www.idea-group.com. There was an article about the book on the first
page of the Business section in the January 14 issue of The Commercial
Appeal.
• Jennifer Mohan (Natural Science '06) has been accepted to
the Deaconess School of Nursing in Saint Louis for next fall.
• Dr. Eric Welch (Dean, School of Engineering) recently attended
the Akayama-Ryu Winter Jujitsu Camp, which featured nationally ranked
martial artists as well as instructors from the Federal Law Enforcement
Training Center. Presentations addressed traditional jujitsu techniques
and principles as well as modern applications such as those being taught
to federal air marshals, undercover agents and other law enforcement
personnel.
ARE YOU "WHO'S WHO" MATERIAL?
Attention all juniors, seniors, and graduate students: If you have
demonstrated academic excellence while participating in community
services and extracurricular activities, you may be eligible for
selection to Who's Who Among American College Students. Applications
are available in Student Life and must be completed by February 14.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
CBU is a sponsor in a Tax Assistance Program. Join CBU alumni volunteers
and other community volunteers to help those earning less than $38,000
do their taxes. Use your skills to make a difference for others on
Saturday mornings January 28, February 4, and February 11 from 9:00
a.m. to noon at Memphis Catholic High School. Junior and Senior Accounting
and ITM majors are especially needed. For more information, contact

CAMPUS JOB OPPORTUNITY

for the Annual Fund are needed for the Spring Semester. The five weeks of calling begin

NOTICE FROM FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
If you are a new student in the spring term, your
loan proceeds will come to your account in two disbursements. The first
disbursement will post after drop/add if you are finalized and have
attended a class. The second disbursement will come after mid-term.
This is done because it is required by federal law.

PLOUGH SCHOLARSHIP INTERVIEWS
Attention Faculty and Staff: The Admissions Office would like to
invite all of you to participate in our Plough Scholarship interviews.
The Plough Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship based on high
academic standing, strong extracurricular activities, and leadership
roles. The interviews will be held on campus on Saturday, February
18, and will begin at 9:00 a.m. The interview sessions will end around
12:00 pm. If you are interested in assisting this year, contact Maureen

2006 FAFSA DUE BY FEBRUARY 15
Tennessee Student Assistance Awards are given on a first-come, first-served
basis and funds are quickly depleted. Make sure to complete your
FAFSA by February 15 by following the steps below, even if you have
to use estimated data and make corrections once you file your 2005
federal income taxes:
• Get your PIN today. You may request a duplicate PIN at www.pin.ed.gov.
One parent needs a PIN for dependent students.
• Get your 2005 income and asset information ready
• Complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

CAMPUS MINISTRY
It is a great grace that we have been given to pray for one another. Keeping
this in mind, a Book of Intentions will be placed in St. Joseph Chapel (Barry
Hall) to remember our loved ones and any special intentions we may have.
SPRING FORUMS
The CBU Counseling Center will coordinate two forums for the CBU community
in February. On February 14, Dr. Rena Durr (Behavioral
Sciences) will present "Speaking of Sex... Do Men and
Women Speak Different Languages?" to describe the differences
in how males and females communicate. On February 23, clinical psychologist Dr.
David Goldstein and Karen
Conway (Dean of Students) will join a volunteer student
to discuss "Academic Coping Strategies for Students
with ADD/ADHD." Both
hour-long forums will be held in Spain Auditorium at 1:00 p.m.
ART EXHIBITION
An exhibition of new work in clay by Ellen McGowan will open in the
Beverly & Sam Ross Gallery (lower level of Plough Library) with
a public reception on Friday, January 27, 5:30-7:30 p.m., and be
