CBU Jumps to Top 25 Best Southern Universities

(Memphis, TN)---Christian Brothers University is one of the 25 best Southern universities according to the 2006 edition of U.S. News and World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges.”

CBU is ranked 21st among Southern Universities Granting Master’s Degrees, jumping up from 31st last year. CBU is also listed among the most racially diverse campuses in the South, ranked 3rd among the top Southern colleges and universities known for campus diversity.

The U.S. News rankings are based on several quality measures including academic reputation, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, peer assessment, alumni giving and graduation rate performance. Colleges and universities are listed in various categories depending on their size, location, and other factors.

Founded in 1871 by the Brothers of the Christian Schools, a Catholic teaching order, CBU awarded the first college degree in the City of Memphis in 1875. Today, 110 full-time faculty members, with 89% holding doctorates or the highest degrees in their field, provide a comprehensive education to more than 1,800 students from 20 states and 22 countries.
