CBU Events to Celebrate Black History Month

(Memphis, TN)---Christian Brothers University will be celebrating Black History Month on Thursday, February 15 during a Brown Bag Luncheon at 12:15 p.m. on campus in the East Lounge, Thomas Center. Mr. Benjamin Head, Instruction Librarian, will facilitate the discussion on "Affirmative Action: Is it still needed?" According to Theodore Wood, a professor at the University of Dayton School of Law, there is a current move afloat by political conservatives to terminate all Affirmative Action programs because, as they contend, America is now a color-blind nation therefore eliminating the need for such programs. The audience will have an opportunity to participate in a dialogue to explore the issue of affirmative action in American today. Is it still needed? This event is free and open to the public.

On Friday, February 23, you are invited to a .Night of Elegance with a Touch of Class.. Come dance the night away as the CBU community continues to celebrate Black History Month with music from African-American artists ranging from jazz and soul to R&B. Attire: Formal. Admission: $5
