Haught, Recognized Catholic Theologian, to Speak at CBU
Memphis – John F. Haught, Ph.D., distinguished research professor in the Department of Theology at Georgetown University, will be the guest speaker at Christian Brothers University (CBU) on Thursday, November 15, at 7 p.m. in the University Theater. Haught, a widely recognized Catholic theologian with expertise in science and religion, will address evolution and religious faith in his speech, "Evolution and Faith: What is at Stake?"
Haught is the author of many books focusing on systematic theology, with a particular interest in issues pertaining to science, cosmology, evolution, ecology and religion. Haught's accomplishments include countless articles, reviews, and international science and religion lectures. He was also the winner of the Owen Garrigan Award in Science and Religion in 2002, and the Sophia Award for Theological Excellence in 2004. He received his Ph. D. in theology from the Catholic University of America in 1970, and was chair and professor in the Department of Theology at Georgetown University for 35 years. Haught is the father of Paul Haught, Ph.D., who is the CBU chair-elect of the Religion and Philosophy department
